Ancient Amber Wedding Inspiration

For some the definition of luxury is a combination of comfort and sophistication. In this Calgary Bridal Guide table d cor spread it is the combination of ancient wood and priceless amber, honey wine, classical music and roaring fires. In a recent collaboration, Mountainscape Productions & Events and BanffBride produced a rich and elegant d cor spread titled “Amber” for Calgary Bridal Guide! See it in the brand new issue on news stands now on page 24 and 25.

“A large amber brooch was the inspiration. It was from Vida Fashion in Canmore, a member of BanffBride, who carries beautiful accessories for weddings.” – Naomi Langer-McIntosh

The reflective yet warm combination of glass and mirrors, deep amber and honey tones, and warm wood was surprisingly designed around a single brooch. Naomi Langer-McIntosh of Mountainscape Productions & Events drew all her inspiration from this one element and the ancient organic gemstone amber.

When asked what her favourite design elements were, Naomi remarked “The tabletop elements in gold and amber with texture and pattern. There was such a mix and it all worked together. The most surprising was the mirror table reflecting the mirror base of the flowers. We couldn’t show it in photographs because with a close up it was confusing, but it created an endless reflection within the table that we all loved!”

Comforting and sensual tones of amber, butter and caramel are set aflame by hot padparadscha and orange. The inviting scent of beeswax ignites the senses, while rich gold, mirror and lace not only add light and dimension to the room but a luxurious polish as well.

Warm Shades like yellow and orange are associated with sunshine and roaring fires. These colours and undertones contribute towards a cheerful, welcoming space. Because of their brightness warm shades appear to spring forward making a room feel more intimate. The luminous quality of warm colors is also energizing and is known to stimulate conversation and appetites.
