Fuchsia and Ivory Bohemian Wedding Inspiration from Victoria, BC

Love at first sight, the look of love – love can sometimes be articulated through site, through a specific lens but the truth is, love can only be felt. Through emotion, through energy, through connection. Love does not look like any one thing, it flows through us person to person, an intangible that is sometimes so deep, so fluid, it can't be described. Today's wedding inspiration shoot embraces the notion of fluidity and the look of love, giving us a glamourous bohemian  wedding inspiration shoot with fresh and bold fashion and design concepts that we can't help stare at. Photographed by Suzanne Sagmeister Photography with Creative Direction from Hunt and Gather Hair Company and Emma McCormick Creative, we simple adore the style and feel of this incredible shoot. From the Creative Team:

The Palm to Palm shoot was inspired by the modern woman. We wanted to show contemporary women’s bridal fashion with vintage twist. The Team of Mandy Rogers and Travis Mercer (Hunt & Gather hair company) and Emma McCormick & Camille Johns (The Good Party) came together to bring this vision to life with an incredible team of vendors at Bilston Creek Farm. A real couple was chosen to model. The team wanted to create as authentic a look as possible and we wanted the love to be real. Chelsea Kanstrup of Paper Heart Films, didn’t tell the couples before she started shooting that there would be audio which allowed her to capture their genuine interactions.  You truly feel both women’s vulnerability and strength all at once. The fashion and hairstyling were inspired by the 1920’s era with its flapper style, finger waves and women’s suits. this era would symbolize a drastic shift in women’s fashion for decades to come. No longer dressing in traditional gender norms, women were more free to express themselves and make bolder choices with their outfits and hair.

The decor and design was beautifully executed by Emma McCormick and her team and Lynda Marie & Steven Miller of FLEURtacious. The playful feel of the palm fronds and pussy willows and the colour palette of the place settings and bouquets are beautiful unconventional choices. They capture the playful, festive vibe we wanted to put across.

Suzanne Sagmeister photography has been a long time collaborator with Hunt & Gather hair company. She was the perfect choice to capture the modern vibe of the setting while maintaining the vibe of old school cool that the styling portrays.

We can’t thank Bilston Creek enough for allowing us to shoot at their farm. From the lavender fields to the massive barn and beautiful orchard. This backdrop was the perfect setting for an outdoor shoot. The location is contemporary enough that it fits the style of the shoot without feeling out of place. It’s such a truly romantic venue and we are so lucky to have it here on Vancouver Island.

It was important to the whole team to show that the modern woman can be fun and empowered and can break from gender norms with their bridal styling and design choices for their wedding. This shoot was truly a blast for all of us involved and we are so happy with the result.
