This is the type of wedding that needs no introduction – filled with pastel and gold wedding details, Emily and Ryan travelled all the way from Toronto to have a glamourous and romantic Rocky Mountain wedding. We like to describe our wedding as the marriage of the west and the east. The western groom marries the big city girl bride. We knew it would be monumental to have our wedding at the Banff Springs not only because Ryan grew up in Calgary,but it was also where he proposed, at his favorite spot – Mt. Norquay – a beautiful scenic grassland overlooking the town of Banff! It was a pretty interesting wedding planning process for us, since we both live in Downtown Toronto. We relied a lot on our wonderful mom Helen for helping us coordinate with the vendors, and our wedding planner in Banff. In the end, everything turned out better than we expected! We had our summer afternoon ceremony outside on the Banff Springs terrace with the mountains behind us as we took our vows. One of the most memorable moments for us, was when the skies completely cleared up after a week of rain, as we were standing at the alter. We felt like our wedding day had many of these special moments that were hard to capture – but our amazing photographer Terrence Law managed to capture them all. Our reception was held in the Mt. Stephen Hall, the architecture of the room wears itself and requires little decor. With that said, we put our modern spin on it, using pastel colours and Pinterest inspired decorative pieces. The night consisted of a lot of really great moving speeches, choreographed dances by the wedding party, flash mobs, laughs and happy tears. We could not have asked for a better way to end an amazing adventure.
