Sheryl Boury Unites Love and Cultures with Award Winning Wedding Design

Uniting two hearts in marriage requires the purity of true love and a relentless desire to be together forever. John Lennon put it simply, and said it best – “All you need is love”.

Uniting two ethnic cultures on the other hand, with two sets of traditions and dramatically different (and symbolic) colour palettes into a two-day long ethnic wedding production – well, that will require a really incredible wedding planner, too.

“This was my first award won, and I’m so grateful to work in such a dynamic creative industry, with support from outstanding vendors! The LFW team worked so hard to bring two cultures together, over four days in the mountains, with so many unforeseen circumstances… I’m thrilled to share the success of this wedding with them all, and look forward to another busy wedding season ahead!” – Sheryl Boury, Lynn Fletcher Weddings

The elaborate and meticulously detailed Hindu / Canadian wedding was designed by Sheryl Boury, recipient of the 2014 Star Award for “best Wedding Over $75,000” and Senior Wedding Producer for Lynn Fletcher Weddings.

The wedding was appropriately named “Love United”, but a lot more than love had to unite to make this spectacular celebration of love and high society possible. Cultures, traditions, motifs, palettes, and expert strategies were carefully sourced, weighed and compared until the perfect balance of personality and sophistication was achieved.

Sheryl explained, “The Bride and Groom’s goal was to unify two family cultures, while respectfully acknowledging different traditions. An army of vendors and staff were brought in a charge that was timed to the minute, over a course of 5 days. A meticulous communication web and an empowered team of professionals were the key to the execution of an event that had a seemingly impossible goal. The result: a 12-foot birch tree Mandap dripping in dendrobian orchids and roses, two days of Wedding Celebrations, a whirlwind of unforeseeable circumstances, all whilst two polar opposite cultures of love united as one!”

“The goal for the two-day weddings were overall to design a unique theme, while keeping true to Hindu Ceremony Traditions, and Canadian Traditional Events. Detailed diagrams were presented to the family ahead of time, to ensure throughout the collaboration process, each family’s heritage was included. For the Mandap, The Groom’s family wanted to include traditionally Red and Gold, while black was not allowed. (The black stage was covered by a custom covering.) While the Bride wanted to bring nature inside; a birch and willow Mandap was created, with accenting clear vases with floating candles, and submergered curly willow and live orchids.

On the Second Day, Indian Favours of fruitcake were placed at each place setting, a Traditional Indian Feast was presented, and the d cor overall was still gold, but with a coral and ivory flair, (matching the Bride’s inspired colour palette and Bridesmaids dresses).”

“Encompassing each Bride and Groom’s likes and dislikes into one final look is key: making sure each integral part of family tradition is included. I love the creativity of coming up with new ideas that no one has seen before, and using existing elements in a new way. Each Couple is different and unique from one another, and their wedding day should reflect that! I Love getting to know each couple on a personal one-on-one basis, and creating a vision that is special just for them.”
