Top Wedding Cake Trends

Brrrrr I needed a pick me up today. There is something so strange about waking up at 6:30am and having it be pitch black out, and yet have your living room be lit up from the glow off the snowfall. Bizarre! But the beautiful snow reminded me of icing on a cake, and hence today’s tasty post on some of my favourite wedding cake trends.

Rock on, Rock Candy Cake

I wasn’t a big fan of rock candies as a kid, the popping kind of freaked me out. But as a colourful topper on a fantastic wedding cake? Imagine taking a bite of that piece and having a little extra sizzle on your tongue, how unique! This is definitely one of those wedding cake trends I can see taking off…

Andale with ombre wedding cakes

Ombre isn’t exactly one of the newest wedding cake trends but I still love it all the same. I think it’s a wonderful and subtle use of colour, and it’s right on trend with fashion, accessories and even hair. What’s nice about ombre is you can dress it up with other trends as well – the mint ombre cake below has a delicate pattern, but you could add lace, beads, jewels, berries, candles, flowers, cupcakes and more.

Don’t be shy with a naked wedding cake

When I saw this “naked” wedding cake, I thought this is both super clever and looks scrumptuous! Although icing is itself is of course delicious, sometimes it can be sugar overload. This naked cake dazzled up with fresh berries and flowers and sprinkled with icing sugar looks like a piece of your wedding that all your guests will take home with them.
