A Wedding at the Pyramids

Few wedding receptions can claim a backdrop quite like the Pyramids of Giza. For ours, the setting was even more extraordinary: we were granted permission to host our reception at the Pyramids of Giza, making us only the third couple ever to receive such permission. We were also the first British and first Indian couple in history to be granted this extraordinary privilege.

What began as a wedding became a journey across continents, cultures and traditions, a celebration that reflected not only where we came from, but also the life we have built together.

Three Countries, One Celebration

Our wedding unfolded across three countries and several distinct celebrations, with each event bringing its own character and traditions.

We began with a civil ceremony at Marylebone Town Hall in London, surrounded by family and friends. From London, the celebrations continued in Cairo, where we held our Haldi ceremony at the Sofitel Cairo El Gezirah.

We then celebrated our traditional Hindu wedding at Dahab Island Palace, bringing the colour, rituals and symbolism of an Indian ceremony to the heart of Egypt. Finally, we gathered beneath the stars for our wedding reception at the Pyramids of Giza. It was a setting that felt both timeless and deeply symbolic.

Where British, Egyptian, and Indian Traditions Met

Throughout the celebrations, we wanted every detail to tell a story. Our wedding brought together British, Egyptian and Indian influences, creating something that felt uniquely personal to us.

The ceremonies allowed us to honour our respective backgrounds while also embracing the country that had become such an important part of our wedding journey. From the formal elegance of London to the ancient grandeur of Cairo, each location became part of the story.

A Celebration Shaped by Travel

Travel has always been an important part of our relationship. Together, my wife, Dr, and I have visited more than 130 countries, and our wedding naturally reflected that shared passion for discovering the world.

Choosing Egypt as the centre of our celebrations felt like a natural extension of the way we have lived our lives: bringing together different cultures, experiences and traditions and finding beauty in each of them.

From the Pyramids to Bora Bora

After the celebrations came the next chapter of our journey: our honeymoon in Bora Bora.

From a civil ceremony in London, to Hindu traditions in Cairo, to a once-in-a-lifetime reception at one of the world’s most iconic ancient landmarks, and finally to the turquoise waters of Bora Bora, our wedding was far more than a single day.

It was a celebration of our heritage, our families, our love of travel and, most importantly, the life we were beginning together.
