Country Chic Wedding in Cochrane, Alberta

Who’s in the mood for a little country love? With Stampede right around the corner, we’ve been blasting our favourite Derks Bentley and Kenney Chesney love songs, and singing them loud and in love, with the windows down in our cars! Tyler and Kristina’s wedding is the icing on our country cake – a gorgeous, chic country affair at the Cochrane Ranche House in Cochrane, Alberta. Photographed by SkyBluePhotography, we love all the country touches that Tyler and Kristina added to make their wedding decidedly theirs, but it’s the look in their eyes that make this love story more like a love song! From the photographer:

Tyler and Kristina got married in August 2018 at the Cochrane RancheHouse, and I, being Tyler’s younger sister, had the absolute privilege of being their photographer on their very special day.  The morning started with getting ready at the bride’s parent’s house.  The makeup artist, Aprille Lu, was one that I have worked with of many occasions in the past so the bridal makeup went off without a hitch, all looking glamorous as ever.  The bride had her hair done by Trisha Gader and it turned out absolutely beautiful.  Kristina has naturally super curly hair and Trisha worked wonders and made huge soft curls which went so well with the dress.  The moment Kristina’s dad saw his daughter for the first time in her dress brought tears to my eyes.  It was such a sweet moment and it’s one of my favourites to photograph.  All the ladies then took a limo to the venue, where both the ceremony and reception were to be held.

The ceremony was accompanied by beautiful warm tones of the violin, wonderfully mastered by Kristina’s cousin Emmanuelle. The ceremony was so lovely and everything from the parent’s giving their daughter away, to the covenantal words the Pastor spoke, to the poetic vows of the couple was so special as I got to be front and center, and witness my big brother get married!  The couple also had a videographer, Matt McKinney, capturing the special moments and life long memories of the magical day.

The venue was decorated beautifully with soft champagne, and white colours with touches of soft pink and a bountiful of greenery to tie it all together.  The venue is quite rustic and the juxtaposition between the woodsy decor, the soft florals, Kristina’s glamorous ivory dress and Tyler’s handsome classic navy blue suit was just perfect in every way. The florals and greenery were done by Foxtail Floral Designs and they were so pretty!  The display across the ceremony arch was particularly my favourite.  Kristina’s mom had done a stunning display on the big mantle by the head table, which was decorated with flowers, fairy lights, a ‘T & K’ sign, along with wooden slabs for the place setting.  The other tables had burlap dropped across, which fit the venue so well, and there was also wooden rounds used as the centrepiece which Kristina decorated with a dainty white lantern, a floral bouquet, and the table number. Tyler’s wonderful parents (aka pap and mum) made some beautiful focal pieces made out of 100 year old barn wood, one being a majestic wooden slab with T&K etched in the center and where all of their family and friends could write sweet wishes for the couple, celebrating the important covenant that was to be made that day.

The rest of the decor was rented from a mother and daughter team who started a home based decor rental company called White Elephant, which is based out of Airdrie, Alberta.  The day went smoothly, but of course there is just never enough time for photos! But capturing this couple’s special day was such an honour for me. Their wedding coordinator-Helene from Voila Events also really helped a great deal to ensure everything went as smooth and flawless as possible. The catering company Gourmet to Go satisfied the hungry guests with local cornish hen and tender slices of roast beef. For dessert the couple had ordered a lemon and raspberry cake decorated with flowers from Yvonne’s Delightful Cakes for their families to enjoy and there was also a delicious pie buffet with an assortment of key lime cheesecake, chocolate, and apple pie.

Towards the end of their wedding, the beautiful couple made their way into a classic 70’s mustang, waving goodbye to family and friends, and driving off under the Canadian moonlit sky. Tyler & Kristina were able to have the elegant romantic wedding that they had been dreaming of, and the Cochrane RanchHouse was the perfect place to bring their dream to life!
