A Rocky Mountain getaway was exactly what Olivia and Dylan needed after planning their dream wedding in the midst of a global pandemic. The 15th was a sentimental date because it is Olivia’s birthday number and was also the number of the day they got engaged, so postponing from August 15, 2020 was simply not an option.
Perfectly Designed Events planned their original wedding details from start to finish, but was truly honoured to have the opportunity to leave behind the beautiful mill wedding in Cobourg, Ontario to head west to elope in Banff, Alberta!
Olivia & Dylan had the intimate wedding of their dreams with only their closest loved ones surrounding them. The day began with Sorena and Nicole from Lilies & Lace Beauty Co. helping Olivia to feel her best. She spent a relaxing morning with her closest family and the dogs, Banden and Bow. No wedding day is truly complete without the fur-babies so they made the journey to Alberta all the way from Ontario as well!! Floral & Field delivered the stunning flowers early in the morning and they absolutely did not disappoint. The bouquet and floral crown perfectly embodied the whimsical and vibrant vision that Olivia had always imagined.
The ceremony was nothing short of perfect. The exact ceremony location was not determined until four days before the wedding as the common Banff ceremony locations were just a little bit too touristy. These adventurers wanted a private, secluded area away from the crowd. Off a back road by the Bow River, they said their vows and connected their lives forever in a picture-perfect ceremony led by Marie-Eve Jackson.
Olivia’s ring deserves its own special acknowledgement. Two years before their engagement, Dylan and Olivia travelled to Alberta and discovered their love of adventure as they completed a Via Ferrata mountain climb in Banff. Afterwards, they explored the shops in Banff and discovered a small Jewellery shop called Banff Custom Jewellery. Olivia loved it so much that Dylan had her engagement ring designed there and shipped to Ontario, so it was only fitting that the wedding bands were designed to perfectly compliment the engagement ring. They had two bands custom made with the heads of two horses encasing the center stone. Olivia has been riding horses since she was 8 years old and they have always been an important part of her life. This ring brought together her new found love of the mountains and her long-time passion for horses. They also designed the ring to symbolize two people (indicated by the horses) running towards their life together (symbolized by the center diamond).
This adventure elopement could not have ended in a more breathtaking and personal way. They opted to skip the traditional dinner and instead they did the two hour, seven kilometer hike up to the top of Ha Ling Peak on Mount Lawrence Grassi. It’s hard to believe, but they did the whole hike in their wedding attire! As the sun set, over the mountains, Olivia and Dylan spent the last moments of daylight capturing their love with the amazing Alex Popov Photography. As if that wasn’t enough, they finally ended their spontaneous day by jumping into a freezing cold lake to celebrate their new beginning as husband and wife.
