From the Creative Team:
From the beginning, the couple envisioned a rooftop celebration that felt less like a traditional wedding and more like an immersive fashion experience. It was almost a runway moment where guests were an intentional part of the aesthetic. Inspired by the Met Gala, attire was set to all black, and guests were provided with a detailed dress-code mood board via The Knot. The goal was to set the tone and to remove the uncertainty that often accompanies non-traditional dress codes.

A Rooftop Ceremony Above the City
The ceremony took place outdoors on a sun-filled rooftop, with circular seating that framed panoramic views of the Calgary skyline. With perfect weather on their side, the natural light and city backdrop became a defining feature of the moment. Live music established the mood early on, blending reggae rhythms with familiar songs interpreted in the artist’s own style, creating an atmosphere that felt relaxed, joyful, and celebratory.

An Intentional Approach to Getting Ready
The day began with calm intention. Extra space was requested in the getting-ready suite to avoid a crowded, rushed environment. Embracing trust and creative freedom, several bridesmaids brought multiple dress options and selected their final looks while hair and makeup were underway. While unconventional, the approach felt authentic to the couple and aligned with the fashion-driven spirit of the day. Calgary-based designer NRT Fashions designed the bride’s gown, along with custom couture for her mother, father, and officiant.

Cocktail Hour: Reimagined
Cocktail hour unfolded across two distinct spaces, each offering a different experience. On the rooftop, the couple stayed seated as they welcomed each guest individually, making time for hugs, conversation, and photographs. Inspired by Indian wedding traditions, this approach fostered meaningful connections.
The second cocktail space was located on the top floor of a four-storey heritage building. It was filled with mirrored walls and hidden architectural details. A bathroom concealed behind a bookshelf became a memorable discovery. Even the smallest elements were considered, including all-black toilet paper and curated toiletries, reinforcing the immersive, detail-driven design.
Dinner and a Nod to What’s Next
Following cocktail hour, guests went to the main ballroom for dinner. The space was transformed with soft, full drapery, cascading chandeliers, and a beef tenderloin carving station. It added both warmth and theatrical flair. As a subtle nod to the couple’s next chapter, a classic London-style telephone booth was incorporated into the design.

A Ceremony with Theatrical Flair and a Night on the Dance Floor
The ceremony was officiated by gilded butler Jimmy Lee Vennard—a professional entertainer and the bride’s cousin—whose presence brought a tastefully theatrical energy to the proceedings. As the evening transitioned into the celebration, a carefully selected DJ took over, chosen specifically for his ability to keep the dance floor full. He delivered exactly that, carrying the energy late into the night and closing the celebration on a high note.
