Some love stories take you across borders… and some take you all the way from Texas to the breathtaking mountains of Fernie, British Columbia. For these two Texans, their wedding day was more than just a celebration. It was an adventure, a getaway, and the beginning of a brand-new chapter in one of the most spectacular places imaginable.

On 7/11, they said “I do” at Island Lake Lodge, surrounded by towering peaks, crystal-clear alpine air, turquoise waters, and the kind of scenery that makes you stop and wonder if you’re actually looking at a real place. From the moment they arrived, it felt like the mountains were putting on a show just for them.

With Mckenzie Jespersen Photography behind the camera, and helping plan some of the most epic photo locations imaginable, the day was filled with opportunities to soak in every bit of the landscape. From quiet, intimate moments to dramatic mountain views, every corner of Island Lake seemed to offer another picture-perfect backdrop.

And honestly? It was hard to take a bad photo when your backdrop looks like this.

A Sunset Worth Chasing

As the day began to wind down, the adventure wasn’t over. The sun dipped lower behind the peaks, we climbed into a canoe and drifted across the glassy surface of the lake. The mountains reflected perfectly in the water as the evening light turned everything golden.

For a few moments, the rest of the world seemed to disappear.

Just the two of them.
The mountains.
The stillness of the lake.
And a sunset that looked almost too perfect to be real.

Those are the moments that stay with you. The ones that aren’t planned down to the minute, but somehow become some of the most meaningful memories of the entire day.

From Texas to the Canadian Rockies, this wedding was everything an adventurous love story should be: beautiful scenery, genuine laughter, incredible people, unforgettable food, and a whole lot of love.
