Rocky Mountain Horseback Elopement

The idea of a horseback elopement with a twilight picnic and the opportunity to explore a breathtaking waterfall sounded like an experience many couples would yearn for. Even for those with zero experience with horses, this offered a fun activity to add to their elopement day, without the need for strenuous hikes or helicopter rides, yet still granting them amazing views!

The day of the shoot was an absolute blast! It was filled with laughter, heartfelt vows, and some playful arguments between Annalise and Nick about whether they should get a dog or a horse as their first pet together. Mother Nature even decided to join in on the fun, surprising us with a sudden thunderstorm that poured down upon us. We sought refuge in our cars and under nearby trees, patiently waiting for the rain to pass. Annalise jokingly suggested we embrace the “Notebook” theme and carry on with the shoot, rain or shine! We almost did it, but fortunately, the rain eventually gave way to sunshine.

I firmly believe in giving couples more than just the traditional elopement experience. Elopements today are not like those of our grandparents’ time when they would secretly run off to a courthouse or another city to say their vows. In the 2020s, elopements are about authenticity and choosing what truly reflects you as a couple. It’s about creating an unforgettable, epic experience together that you’ll cherish for a lifetime.

Riding horses through the stunning mountains, savouring a private picnic by the river, and basking in the beauty of a cascading waterfall – this is an extraordinary way to spend your wedding day. Nick and Annalise can certainly attest to that! However, I must offer a friendly warning: don’t blame me if you suddenly fall head over heels for horses and develop an obsession that leads you down the path of bankruptcy. I assure you, though, that it’s an obsession worth having because horses are truly awesome and therapeutic companions.
