Intimate Vow Renewal In Antigua Guatemala

I am an event designer and owner of The Maby Studio in Sylvan Lake, Alberta, originally from Guatemala. Due to unforeseen circumstances, our original plan for our Alberta wedding back in 2018 was nothing like we had planned. We ended up eloping in Ontario with my husband’s family and local friends with the hopes of being able to redo our wedding celebration in Guatemala so my family and friends could attend. Life got busy and then COVID-19 hit making it impossible to plan something abroad.

This year, we decided to do an intimate vow renewal in Antigua Guatemala, colonial city in Guatemala. We had the opportunity for one of our best friends to be our officiant and gather our best friends and redo our ceremony in a quaint boutique hotel, read our vows and re-celebrate our love again.

My dress was designed by my mother and I used family heirloom jewelry. For the event decor and design, styled by my company, the inspiration was Guatemala’s rich colours and textiles and my mother’s antique and memento collection.
