Magical Rustic Barn Wedding in Cochrane, Alberta

A mid September winter wonderland created a magical beginning for these high school sweethearts. While the snow was unexpected, the most perfect day these two curated, was not. Krysta & Russell had an overall timeless feel to their most perfect day. From wildly romantic florals, delicate lace detailing and soft dusty rose hues, each detail of their wedding day was filled with a of touch whimsy, including the first look.

We loved all the intimate and heirloom details incorporated into the wedding. We first learned that Krysta’s veil was hand sewn by her grandmother & her wedding band composed of elements from her mother’s original wedding set. Russell sported a pair of “The Flash” socks under his suit, the first super-hero T.V. series he would finally get Krysta to watch. While not intentional, the wedding date the two set, would also fall on their grandparents wedding anniversary. We couldn’t help but dote on the sentimental moment between mother and daughter as Krysta read a letter from her mom which was written when Krysta was just three, gifted with a custom drawing of 3 generational dresses, Grandmas, Moms and of course hers.

I don’t think the day could have been any more romantic as the couple celebrated 10.5 years together with their family and friends. Amongst all the love and gorgeous detailing of the day, you would never know that a mere 4 weeks prior Krysta and Russell had been left without a wedding venue at all, transitioning a year’s worth of planning to a new second venue at, The Heritage Center in Cremona. As midnight approached, the “perfect” first dance (By Ed Sheeran) left us reminded that after all, fairy-tales do come true.
