What’s Your Wedding Flower Horoscope?

Though they’re rooted in the earth, the answer to what florals might best suit your big day may be written in the stars. Take some celestial inspiration and explore your floral horoscope. It might be the perfect way to build your bouquet.

Aries (March 21 – April 19) Hyacinth – A loyal and unchanging flower is exactly what this passionate Fire sign needs! Hyacinths are multiflora blooms that shoot up towards the skies for a streak of colour. They’re a little wild and adventurous and add something unexpected to a floral arrangement. Aries are cheerful, confident leaders, and as a sign ruled by Mars, the planet of animal passion, and the playful nature of hyacinths add an uncomplicated joy to wedding decor.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20) Lilacs – Taurus is a sign of sensuality and decadence, so lilacs are the perfect bloom for this earthy sign. Symbolizing renewal and confidence, these light lavender flowers look great in bouquets and have a scent that will linger just enough to have you feeling enveloped in luxury. Despite the Taurus being represented by a bull, this sign is ruled by Venus, the planet of sensuality and love. Drawn to peaceful and serene surroundings, using bundles of lilacs in your wedding decor will create a soothing aromatic experience.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20) Tulips – Tulips are a classic wedding flower, and often go underrated. Symbolizing attachment, it’s a perfect flower for Gemini couples whose love is rooted in a deep friendship, and who adore spending time together. Geminis are outgoing and adaptable, which is like our hearty tulips, who blooms year after year, despite the weather. In addition to attachment, tulips symbolize deep rooted love, and their range of colours make them the perfect flower for the never dull gemini.

Cancer (June 21 – July 22) Azaleas – Fragile and delicate, azaleas are associated with being close to home, a well-known trait of the cozy comfort loving Cancer sign. A wedding is often the first step when building a home life, and this flower comes in sweet summer hues like pink, purple, blue, yellow, white and classic red. Cancers are nurturing by nature, they’re also intuitive and sensitive, which is what makes the gentleness of the azalea a dreamy match.

Leo (July 23 – August 22) Primrose – How can a flower be as passionate as a Leo sign? When it symbolizes young love, those heady days when two people can’t stand to be apart. This is a flower that won’t take offence when you toss it aside because you and your babe can’t keep your hands off each other. A Leo is strong and brave, and the primrose flower is often seen as defenceless (hence the Hunger Games symbolism!). Leos are rule by the Sun, the centre of our universe, and the shy primrose is the perfect balance for the bold Leo.

Virgo (August 23 – September 22) Allium – The Virgo sign tends to be refined and logical, and this neat and tidy flower (that comes purple, lavender, pale green, pink, white and blue) is both distinctive and practical. As an Earth sign, Virgo is deeply rooted and a patient flowers, and the Allium is a bloom that’s happy to patiently wait for it’s turn to be admired. Their large round blooms look amazing in wedding arrangements – pair them with ornamental grasses or hostas for a bouquet like no other.

Libra (September 23 – October 22) Peony – The perfect balance of delicate beauty and bold presence, peonies are sure to tip the scales in favour of an unforgettable bouquet. Libras are drawn to things that are balanced, and aesthetically pleasing, which is why the symmetrical peony is a go to favourite. Libras are the ultimate compromisers, and the popular peony is a wedding flower that symbolizes a happy marriage, prosperity, good fortune, honour and compassion, all things the charming Libra is happy to work towards.

Scorpio (October 23 – November 21) Sweet Pea – While it may technically symbolize delicate pleasure and bliss, there’s a sauciness to this bud that aligns perfectly with the sexy (and a little intense) sign of Scorpio. A sign that craves real intimacy, the interwoven vines of the climbing Sweet Pea make you feel like the flower would pull you in to whisper secrets if they could. As a whole, this mighty flower shows power and intensity, but when you get up close to the blossoms, you’ll find them delicate and mysterious, just like our Scorpios.

Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21) Bird of Paradise – If you’ve ever met a flower that loves to boldly put itself out there, it’s the Bird of Paradise. Adventurous, ornamental and exotic, it’s a great match for Sagittarius, lover of excitement, travel and adventure. Sagittarius’ are optimistic, and you can’t look at a Bird of Paradise without feeling a glow of happiness roll through you. The Bird of Paradise bloom feels like it’s sprung out of nowhere, spontaneous and carefree, textbook signs of a Sagittarius.

Capricorn (December 22 – January 19) Lily – A polished bloom for a polished sign, lilies symbolize purity and refinement, as well as elegance and grace, all elements that are classic telltales of the sign of Capricorn. But Capricorns are no fools – hard working, and goal oriented, they’re not afraid to get their hands dirty. Like a hard working Capricorn, lilies are good to share the spotlight with flowers like tulips, dahlias and snowdrops. Lilies pair so well with so many different blooms, you’ll have no problem adding a few unexpected pops to your otherwise elegant arrangement.

Aquarius (January 20 – February 19) Orchid – Orchids have a look that’s modern and mature, one that’s totally unique in comparison to their fellow florals. As Aquarius is a sign that’s known for being drawn to things that are untraditional and unconventional, we think it’s a match made in the stars. Orchids grow comfortably on their own, like the intelligent and independent Aquarius, when you look an an orchid, you might find yourself wondering exactly what it’s thinking (sound familiar?). As an air sign, without a defined shape, orchids grow and blooms to their own, undefined design.

Pisces (February 20 – March 20) Hydrangea – The sign of Pieces is known for being deeply in touch with sentiment, emotions and creativity, and hydrangeas are the blossom that symbolize exactly that – deep, heartfelt emotions. Hydrangeas wide bloom (the flowers themselves can be up to 8 inches wide) has a welcoming, embracing vibe, the same energy a gentle, loving Pisces showers on those they love. A water sign, Pisces goes with the flow and adapts effortless to their surroundings, and hydrangeas are one of those magic wedding flowers that can fit in beautifully with any bouquet of any style.
