For Cat & Lindy, the Canadian Rockies had been on their bucket list for years. Ever since they first came across photographs of the mountains, they had dreamed of experiencing that kind of landscape together. The towering peaks, turquoise lakes, and the quiet that only seems to exist when you’re surrounded by mountains.
When it came time to plan their wedding day, they knew they wanted something that felt just as intentional. They weren’t looking for a grand venue or a traditional wedding surrounded by a crowd. They wanted somewhere secluded and scenic. A place where they could slow down and be fully present with one another without having to trek for hours to get there.
And that’s exactly what they found at Consolation Lakes.
A Mountain Adventure Made Just for Them
With backpacks over their shoulders, pride socks peeking out above their hiking boots, and a bottle of champagne, Cat and Lindy set off on their mountain adventure.
Before heading out, they shared a beautiful moment with their family. It was a chance to soak in the significance of the day and the people who had helped shape their lives and their love story.
Then, it was just the two of them and the trail ahead.
There was something wonderfully fitting about hiking to their ceremony. Their wedding day was about creating an experience that reflected who they are together. The trail gave them time to take it all in, to laugh, talk, pause, and simply enjoy being together.

Vows Among the Rockies
At Consolation Lakes, surrounded by the incredible beauty of the Canadian Rockies, Cat and Lindy shared their vows privately.
Away from the expectations and distractions, they were able to focus entirely on one another. The mountains became their backdrop, but the real focus was always their connection.
The care and love they have for each other was undeniable in every glance and quiet smile along the way. There was a sense of comfort between them. The kind that comes from knowing someone deeply and choosing them, again and again.
Their day felt less like a carefully choreographed wedding and more like an honest reflection of their life together.

Little Details That Made it Theirs
Every detail of their elopement was authentic and intentionally curated to represent the inner parts of themselves that intertwine so naturally in everyday life.
Nothing felt included simply because it was expected. Instead, the details were thoughtful, personal, and meaningful. They were little pieces of their personalities and the things they love woven throughout the day.
From the pride socks peeking out from their hiking boots to the champagne waiting in their backpacks, their elopement was filled with touches that felt unmistakably them.
And then there was the cake.

A Little Bit of Magic
One of our favourite details from their day was their custom-made Harry Potter cake, beautifully created by Swirl Custom Cakes & Desserts and topped with a golden snitch.
Harry Potter was something Cat and Lindy both loved to curl up on the couch and watch together, making the cake so much more than a pretty wedding dessert. It was a tiny representation of the everyday moments that make up a life together.
Bringing something so personal into their wedding day made it feel even more like a celebration of their relationship.

An Elopement Rooted in Connection
What made Cat and Lindy’s mountain adventure elopement so beautiful was its simplicity.
They created space for the things that mattered most: being together, honouring their relationship, connecting with their family, and experiencing the landscape they had dreamed about for so many years.
Their day was intimate and centred around celebrating their love and deep connection in a way that felt completely their own. There was adventure, but also ease. There was breathtaking scenery, but also quiet moments. There were thoughtful details, but nothing that overshadowed the two people at the heart of it all.

A Day That Felt Like Them
At the end of the day, an elopement should be an opportunity to create a wedding experience that feels honest to who you are and how you love.
For Cat and Lindy, that meant hiking through the Rockies with backpacks and champagne, exchanging private vows beside Consolation Lakes, celebrating with the people closest to them, and incorporating little pieces of their shared world along the way.
It was adventurous without being overwhelming, intimate without feeling small, and beautifully personal from beginning to end.
And standing together among the mountains they had dreamed of, they got to do exactly what they had hoped for all along: slow down, take it all in, and choose each other in a place that felt like theirs.
