Foil and Letterpress

Huge for 2017, letterpress and foil give modern invitation design a classic, vintage feel. Letterpress is a printing technique that “which many copies are produced by repeated direct impression of an inked, raised surface against sheets or a continuous roll of paper.” This textured process evokes the feeling of hand calligraphy invitations of the 19th and early 20th-century stationery. Foil stamped accents on letterpress invitations reinforce that classic stationery feel, reminiscent of printing on the cover of leatherbound books. The shimmer of foil press add a modern and luxurious touch to letterpress stationery, with metallics being a major trend for weddings in 2017.

Shimmering Metallics

Copper, rose gold, gold and even silver are elegant touches that work with any style of wedding, and more importantly, almost any style of wedding stationery. Whether it’s metallic lettering, metallic elements in the pattern or in the design, it adds a modern and luxurious feel.

Sage Greens and Succulent Gardens

Blushes, lavenders, and corals are being challenged for the crown of most popular pastel. Sage greens and garden succulents are becoming a huge design trend for Calgary wedding stationery in 2017. A gender-neutral floral element, succulents are modern and bohemian.

Minimalism and White Space

As vintage and bohemian elements have been major wedding trends in the last ten years, it makes sense historically that minimalism wouldn’t be far behind. A design style that began in the 1960’s, it focussed on pared down elements and white space, with handwritten fonts giving these stationery suites a modern touch.

Paper Bands

A decor element that’s high in functionality, paper bands keep stationery pieces neat and tidy and hold them together. This way, guests can take invitations out and put them on display to enjoy them, without worry about losing pieces. Made from flexible paper, these bands can be thicker in width, which allow for additional text or calligraphy as an added touch.

Travel Inspired Stationery

Calgary couples are getting out of dodge for their weddings, and maybe destination wedding couples are opting for travel themed stationery. Passports, maps, plane tickets and travel itinerary make for great stationery inspiration and add a personal touch to a stationery suite.
