From the Creative Team:
Planning this wedding was a journey of weaving together the groom’s Iranian heritage and my Albertan roots in a way that felt authentic and deeply personal. The couple chose the Coutts Centre for its charming prairie setting, and the colour palette was inspired by a landscape painting by JL Mohr, which reflected the golden fields and soft blue hues of the Alberta prairies.

Persian traditions played a significant role in this celebration. The ceremony featured a beautifully arranged Sofreh Aghd, symbolizing love, prosperity, and unity. Later, the reception came alive with the Knife Dance, a lively and playful tradition that added so much joy to the evening. To further blend cultures, the couple had signature cocktails which incorporated flavours from both backgrounds, offering guests a taste of our unique love story.
The Bride’s Style
The bride’s wedding dress was designed by Calgary-based Lis Simon. It was elegant, timeless, and effortlessly romantic. The silhouette was modern yet classic, allowing me to move comfortably while still feeling incredibly special. My veil added a soft, ethereal touch, floating behind me as I walked down the aisle. Every detail came together beautifully, making me feel like the best version of myself on our wedding day.

The Groom’s Classic Look
The groom exuded effortless elegance in his wedding day look. He opted for a white suit jacket paired with a crisp white button-up shirt and a black bow tie, a sophisticated and timeless combination. His outfit perfectly balanced classic formalwear with a modern touch, complementing the romantic setting.

Bridesmaids in Shades of Purple and Blue
Bridesmaids wore dresses in various shades of purple and blue, each in a unique style that reflected their individual personalities. The mix of soft lavender, deep indigo, and dusty blue created a dreamy, watercolour-like effect that harmonized beautifully with our wedding’s colour palette. I loved the way the different silhouettes and tones added visual interest while still feeling cohesive and elegant.

Thoughtful Details
Florals incorporated Persian buttercups, while the tables featured fruit and nuts—a subtle nod to a deconstructed Sofreh Aghd. Every element was thoughtfully curated to reflect both of their backgrounds. The couple collaborated with incredibly talented creatives, including the bride’s aunt, who designed our florals, and friends who created hand-drawn illustrations and table numbers. The bride designed all of our stationery, adding a truly personal touch to their wedding!

A Celebration of Love and Heritage
This wedding was a true reflection of the couple and the love they share. From the traditions to the setting, it told a story of two cultures coming together in a way that felt authentic, meaningful, and filled with joy.
