Nestled in the breathtaking landscapes of Canmore, Alberta, Alex and Aaron’s wedding was a beautiful celebration of love, family, culture, and a shared passion for one of the most beloved fantasy trilogies of all time: The Lord of the Rings.

Surrounded by the dramatic Rocky Mountains, the couple brought their love of Middle-earth to life with a wedding inspired by the magic, adventure, and romance of Tolkien’s world. From the setting to the thoughtful details woven throughout the day, their celebration felt like stepping into a storybook, while remaining completely and uniquely their own.

But the wedding was about much more than a shared love of fantasy. Alex and Aaron also incorporated a traditional Malaysian wedding ceremony, known as a Nikah, into their celebration. The ceremony was a meaningful way to honour Aaron’s Malaysian heritage and pay tribute to his father and his family’s culture.

A Celebration of Love, Family, and Heritage

One of the most special aspects of Alex and Aaron’s wedding was the way they brought two important parts of their lives together. Their Lord of the Rings inspiration reflected the things they love as a couple, while the Nikah honoured Aaron’s family and cultural background.

A Nikah is the Islamic marriage ceremony, and for Aaron and his family, including this tradition was a beautiful way to honour his Malaysian heritage and his father.
