Rain, Romance, and an Unforgettable Sunset

Michela and Phil’s wedding day at Le Belvedere began with a rainy morning, but the weather certainly didn’t stop the celebrations. If anything, the rain added its own bit of atmosphere and created some beautiful, unexpected moments throughout the day.

While Phil got ready in the guest house with his groomsmen and family, Le Belvedere kindly welcomed their pup to join in on the morning preparations. Having their four-legged family member there made the morning feel even more personal and relaxed, and it was such a special part of the start of their wedding day.

A First Look Beneath the Trees

When it was time for their first look, Michela and Phil decided to embrace the weather rather than wait for the rain to pass. They headed outdoors and shared their first look beneath the trees, creating an intimate moment surrounded by the soft rain.

There was something incredibly romantic about the setting. The trees provided a little shelter from the rain while the two of them could simply focus on each other and take in the significance of the moment.

After their first look, we moved inside the ceremony space for their couple portraits, followed by wedding party and family photographs. It gave everyone a chance to stay warm and dry while making sure we captured all of those important portraits before the rest of the celebrations began.

Personal Wedding Details Inspired by Food

Food is a big part of Michela’s life. She regularly shares recipes and cooking inspiration on social media, so it was fitting that her love of food found its way into so many of the details of their wedding day.

For their guest favours, Michela and Phil made their own homemade hot sauce. It was such a personal and thoughtful touch — something their guests could enjoy after the wedding while also taking home a little piece of the couple.

Their guest book was equally unique. Instead of a traditional guest book, guests were invited to choose a favourite recipe from a cookbook and sign their names or leave a note. It was a creative way to bring together Michela’s love of food and the people who had come to celebrate with them.

A Golden Hour Surprise

After a rainy start to the day, the weather gave us an incredible surprise just in time for golden hour.

The rain stopped, the fog began to clear, and the sky opened up to reveal one of the most striking sunsets we’ve photographed this year. The colours were absolutely incredible, creating a dramatic and beautiful backdrop for Michela and Phil’s evening portraits.

The combination of the lingering fog, colourful sky and soft golden light made these portraits especially memorable. It was one of those moments where the weather seemed to work completely in our favour.

Emotional Speeches and a Packed Dance Floor

As the evening continued, the focus shifted toward celebrating with family and friends. The speeches were filled with heartfelt stories, laughter and plenty of emotion, with both Michela and Phil moved to tears as their loved ones shared their words.

Once the speeches wrapped up, the dance floor quickly came to life. Guests danced, celebrated and enjoyed the rest of the evening together, bringing an energetic end to an already incredibly memorable day.

A Wedding Day Full of Personality

From the rainy morning and their outdoor first look to the homemade hot sauce, recipe-inspired guest book and spectacular sunset, Michela and Phil’s wedding day was filled with details that felt completely true to who they are.

The weather may not have followed a traditional wedding-day forecast, but it ultimately became part of what made their photographs so unique. And when the fog lifted and that incredible sunset appeared, it felt like the perfect ending to a beautiful day.

A day filled with family, food, their beloved pup, happy tears, plenty of dancing and one unforgettable sunset. It was exactly the kind of wedding day that makes photographing celebrations like this so special.
