I won’t lie – the SECOND I spotted Monika and Troy’s wedding on Raraa Photography‘s Instagram feed, I emailed Rara right away. Monika is a stunning bride and she pulled off her Vera Wang from David’s Bridal gown flawlessly. Monika and Troy hosted an intimate wedding at Teatro, located in the heart of downtown Calgary. A venue known for it’s incredible menu and picturesque location, as well as totally unique architectural details, it was the perfect setting for romance. Meet the entire Creative Team after the jump!

The bride, Monika, is from Namibia and has been in Calgary for 4 years. Troy and Monika have been together for 4 years. Troy proposed in December, and I was contacted by Cindy, the groom’s mother, in less than 2 weeks before the wedding day. As Monika’s family is all in Namibia, Cindy accompanied Monika to all vendors. In total, at the wedding, there were only Monika, Troy, Troy’s parents and brother, Troy’s friend, and Monika’s friend and cousin (8 people). It was a simple wedding, almost like an elopement. We had to squeeze 4 locations in 4 hours. Getting ready was at Cindy’s house, then we went to Lynda Halliday’s house for the ceremony. It was truly heartfelt. Then it took a bit longer at her house; we were there until 5.10 pm-ish and had to rush to Core as they would close at 6 pm and they had booked the Devonian garden to take photo at. I had warned them of the super tight itinerary, but luckily I managed to get parking spot right away, and I ran with my huge backpack full of gear across from the bankers’ hall to Core, and up to the Devonian garden. Only less than 15 minutes to get everyone together (they had limo so no problem parking but they still had to run all the way to the garden), but we made it 🙂
