When I was planning my wedding, the top of my wish list was a wedding venue that no one had seen before. An almost impossible feat, I know. An amazing space that has, for some reason, gone completely untapped, in a city of over a million people. A hidden gem.
Bonterra Trattoria, located on 8th Street (right around the corner from our wonderful friends at The Social Page and Vine Styles) is one of Calgary’s hidden gems. When you walk through the Bonterra doors, it feels like you’re being transported to a different world. Homey, intimate, warm, rustic – its design is matched only by it’s amazing cuisine comprised of spirited Italian dishes.
While the inside of Bonterra is breathtaking, it’s the outdoor patio that will leave you breathless. A cobblestone patio covered in vines and hanging plants, it’s Calgary’s Tuscan garden in the middle of downtown – it’s the quaintest ceremony spot you might ever see.
Bonterra Trattoria can comfortably fit 70 guests for a seated reception and in a pinch, can hold a maximum of 80 guests. For a standing reception, 110 guests can mix and mingle and for a courtyard ceremony, 70 guests can celebrate, seated, while you say your vows.
