Great Events Group opens Calgary wedding venue Bow Valley Ranche Restaurant

Over the course of the last few months, Calgary has been patiently waiting (and eagerly anticipating!) the Grand Opening of the Bow Valley Ranche Restaurant (formerly Fish Creek Ranche House) under the umbrella of the Great Events Group of Companies. This past week, they welcomed guests through the doors for the first time and we are so pleased to see this Calgary wedding venue re-open it’s doors!

Featuring timeless Alberta cousine, Executive Chef Daryl Kerr has created an elegant menu that focuses on using in-season, locally-grown ingredients, including organic, sustainable meat, game, fish, poultry, vegetables and grains. Being located in one of our city’s most pristine environment areas, it is as simple as looking out to the window to be reminded of how important it is to be environmentally responsible when designing the menu choices and Chef Kerr took that to heart when designing this truly Albertan menu.

Bow Valley Ranche has been an incredibly popular spot for weddings for years, as it’s truly is one of our city’s most historic sites. The structure that stands today was built in 1896 as a private family residence, and due to the beauty of the land and the elegance of the home, it became one of the social hubs in the city. It is the fine detailing in the architecture and craftsmanship, and how well preserved and maintained the property is which makes it such a unique and beautiful venue for a Calgary wedding – it continues to be a social hub in our city. So much history runs through it’s walls – in fact, did you know that the original seed for the Calgary Stampede was planted there?

“There is so much history here,” comments Ulrich Kuenz, founder of the Great Events Group of Companies. “It is a little known fact that the idea for the Calgary Stampede was born in the front parlour room of the ranch house by the Big Four, as they are known today.”
